There's no more handsome color on an early Camaro than British Green, and this car came that color from the factory (correct code Z). Better yet, this cool 1968 RS/SS 396 convertible looks exactly right sporting a contrasting white nose stripe. Recently refinished with gorgeous paint, a nicely detailed big block under the hood, and a host of upgrades, it's an awesome machine that delivers the performance its looks seem to promise. Although the '69 Camaro remains the most popular Chevy of all time, there are a large number of folks who think the simple lines of the earlier cars were exactly right. Compact, but muscular, the first Camaro was a simple design that allowed small details to have a big impact. Super straight sheetmetal certainly helps, and the finish quality on this car is quite good. Add in a cowl induction hood and the ducktail spoiler and you have an aggressive-looking ragtop that doesn't lose its F-body identity in the conversion. Expertly applied stripes follow the factory pattern, and the blacked-out SS grille up front finishes out the aggressive package without being overbearing, and the folding RS headlights always look trick. Excellent chrome bumpers and bright stainless on things like the windshield surround add a bit of jewelry. Inside, black buckets wear reproduction seat covers that follow the original pattern, with a matching seat cover on the rear bench. Many of the soft parts were replaced during the restoration, including those seat covers, the carpets, the door panels, and even the dash pad appears to be a newer piece. A fat wood-rimmed steering wheel is a lot more substantial than the original piece, with clean original gauges visible through the spokes and a "knee knocker" Sunpro tach mounted down low. There's also a full compliment of auxiliary gauges mounted on the center console in a tribute to the original setup, and the 4-speed still sports its original chrome lever. This is an A/C car that was fully upgraded when restored, but there is no radio, just a block-off plate waiting for you to add whatever you want (but there are speakers installed). Overhead there's a new black power convertible top that seals up snugly, and the trunk has been very neatly upholstered in black carpet with a subwoofer and enclosure already in place. Power comes from a sweet-running 396 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, and the engine bay is dressed for show. Finned valve covers with a cool black wrinkle finish and bright logos show quite well, and the Edelbrock intake has been painted Chevy Orange to match the block. A billet accessory drive system features a March billet serpentine belt setup as well as a new alternator, water pump, and A/C compressor, which has been upgraded to R134a refrigerant. Underneath, it's clean and solid, with long-tube headers feeding a pair of Flowmasters, and believe me, this big block sings beautifully. In back, the stock rear end distributes the torque, and it rolls on handsome 15-inch Rally wheels wearing 235/60/15 white letter performance radials. There's a lot more than the asking price wrapped up in this slick F-body ragtop, and the classic color combination will never go out of style. Call today!
