Jaguar XK 150 S Coupé 3,8 Litre
French registration Engine #: R7575-Block # 3 / # VAS 1002-9 Cylinder - Rare coupe 3.8S version - European model - Powerful and comfortable The introduction and marketing of the Jaguar XK 150 in 1957 corresponded to the request from customers who wanted a car in the vein of the legendary Jaguar XK 120 and 140, but with a number of improvements. The style of the body is immediately recognizable from its predecessors, thanks to its more rounded looks, and its higher beltline. It also allowed for a much bigger interior and that's what customers, especially the Americans, wanted. The 3.8 S is the ultimate version of the XK 150 with its "Straight port" head painted in gold, and designed by Harry Weslake to feature direct intake ports and equal exhaust ports, which allowed for three large HD8 SU carburetors of two-inches, the engine delivering 265bhp and propelling the car to a max speed of over 220 km/h, the standstill to 400 metres standing start in under 16 seconds. This engine was identical to the E-Type Series I 3.8. The car on offer is a coupe XK 150 S, sold new in Germany and registered for the first time on November 30, 1959. It changed hands several times in Germany and then was sold to a French enthusiast through Christie's on February 21, 1992 in Paris then the current owner bought it at Artcurial in December 2002. The invoice for an engine overhaul in 1993 shows that side segments 20 have been installed and the bolt has been completely redone along with the shaft, the motors, pumps and the engine compartment. In 1995, the front was redone and then the car has been in very limited used, though maintained and serviced regularly. The powerful XK marked the start of impressive performance from Jaguar. And this one is a spacious automobile that is comfortable to travel in and comes equipped with a four-speed 'box with a Laycock de Normanville overdrive on the fourth. ..
