Bentley S2 Berline
French title - Iconic Bentley saloon - Beautiful patina - Luxurious, refined and sybaritic... - No reserve Since its introduction in 1955, the Bentley S-Type, "twin sister" of the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, seduced by the cars classicism as well as the fluidity of its lines. Yet it would not be until 1959 with the launch of the S2 that the new 6.2-liter V8 engine mated to an automatic transmission, finally gave the S-Type the desired grunt. Power steering became standard, and the car could be ordered with air conditioning and power windows as options, facilities which were also available to the Bentley S2. Delivered in a classic two-tone grey matched to grey leather interior, this S2 boasts its British identity with its RHD set up, but spent much of its life in France within the same family since 1983. It was then used for travelling between Paris and the country home near the Gulf of Morbihan. The car is in its original condition and has a nice patina of a well use car as states the expertise that was carried out in 2012. The expertise also mentions that "the visible parts of the platform chassis are in good condition, as well as the body, paint, chrome and accessories." We note that front seatbacks and varnish woodwork deserve to be redone. Having ceased to be used regularly since 2010, this sumptuous saloon now boasts 59 420 miles and requires a comprehensive overhaul before being used again. Elegance and style of the first series, with the appropriate power of the V8, this car offers the best combination for a very refined grand tourer, a rightful heir to the Golden Age of great coachbuilt cars.
