Porsche 356 B 1600 Super cabriolet
German registration Engine # 701 273 616-2 Type - Same owner from 1961 to 2010 - Three owners only - In very good condition - Certainly sold new to Deborah Kerr The initial design of Ferdinand and Ferry Porsche was very good. Engine at the rear, air-cooled flat four, streamlined body, quality manufacturing, and this winning combination evolved steadily, peacefully but rigorously to the point when it became the starting point of the next generation, the 911, in which we would see some of the ingredients that shaped the personality of the first Porsches. The 356 was the foundation on which was built the legend of the brand, a car made from passion and genius. Though no document can ensure the provenance of this prestigious 356, the second owner who kept this car from 1961 to 2010, was none other than the famous actress Deborah Kerr. The current owner, a doctor had bought it from the actress at the time he had treated her in Davos, Switzerland. Deborah Kerr, the actress of Scottish descent, was one of Hollywood's most famous stars. After acting opposite Clark Gable in 1947 in the movie "Dealers of Illusions", Kerr's film career took off and she had an incredibly illustrious one. The same year that the Porsche was purchased, she acted in the movie "The Grass is Greener" with Cary Grant and Robert Mitchum. The second owner of the car was the doctor of the actress, when Kerr was shooting in Switzerland, in Davos, when he bought it the car off her in 1961. In 1962, the engine had a problem and it was replaced with the 75bhp 1600 Super's engine from the same year, but always the same type 616-2. The doctor carefully maintained the car till it passed to the current owner in 2010, which is more than 45 years in one family! Its new owner decided to take back the cabriolet to its original colour, silver, and during that time the car received a complete mechanical overhaul. For the interior, the current owner gave the car to the workshops of Gässlin in Weil am Rhein, in Germany. Thus, it has a red leather interior with red carpets and a black hood. The Porsche 356 is one of most iconic of sports cars of the 1960s and in convertible form, is the most desirable. In very good condition, this car benefits from a prestigious history and a simple lineage of just three owners.
