1974 Ducati 750 SS ( EUR 60000 )

Ducati 750 SS
British registration Engine # DM750/1-075345 - Exceptional state of original - Extremely rare - Authentic sports bike Certain events of history have shaped Ducati's success. One of them was the arrival of Fabio Taglioni in 1954 as the technical director. He came in to develop the Desmodromic valve system for racing and this technology became synonymous with the brand Ducati. Another event was the creation in 1972 of the 200 Miles race of Imola for 750cc class of bikes. And this class was dominated by Ducati racers Paul Smart and Bruno Spaggiari, who signed a one-two in that order. This success encouraged Ducati to market a sportier version, the 750 Super Sport. It had three disc brakes and a tank in fiberglass with a vertical transparent stripe through which one could see the fuel level. The engine was the twin desmo 750 (72bhp at 8800rpm). This Ducati 750 SS was bought by its current owner in 2008. He acquired it from an English enthusiast who owned the bike since 1977, 31 years in the same collection! When our enthusiast bought it in England, he was struck by its excellent condition and since then has done everything mainly to preserve that, without make any changes or restoration. Thus this bike is offered in a very rare and very original state. It is equipped with its original engine, as shown by matching numbers that can be seen in the book by Ian Fallon on Sport and Super Sport of the engine and frame as taken from factory records in 1974. The right side of motor is denoted DM 750/1, which corresponds to the motor and SS as it was a 1974 model, and the scabbard is painted Marzocchi black, with the bike equipped with 18-inch Borrani wheels. Ducati produced just 401 examples of this version, which makes it a particularly rare motorcycle. It comes with an ASI certificate. This is probably one of the best and the most genuine sports machine, very beautiful, rare and whose history is based on the fundamentals of victory and future success of Ducati.
