Gnome & Rhône 750X avec side-car
No registration Engine # 120075 - Large French classic - In good condition, looks good - Comes with a sidecar - No reserve From the very beginning of the 1930s, motorcycles produced by Gnome & Rhône were characterized by a flat twin configuration engine, and a sheet metal framework. After producing a version of the 500cc side valve engine from 1932, Gnome & Rhône went into high gear in 1935. For the particular needs of the French army, the manufacturer unveiled the "X", a machine of 750cc OHV whose max power was 34bhp at 5500rpm. That was enough to tow a side-car and so was ideal for military use. This powerful motorcycle was robust and therefore went on to largely equip the army, but also the sidecar provided lovers of long distance raids to ride around setting records. This bike had all the abilities to match and better the BMWs of its times, both in their configuration and their use. Today, Gnome & Rhône X have become very rare and are thus much coveted. The bike we present is of French origin, having known use with the civil registration as 746 AA 6. Imported into Italy in 1954, it remained for many years in the hands of the same owner. Attached to a sidecar Bernardet painted in an elegant dark shade, it is beautiful and the current owner has confirmed that it works well. Exhausts were replaced recently. It will be sold with Italian PRA registration, which allows it to be registered as a collector machine. This is a good combo, led by one of the most prestigious of French bikes of the 1930s. A very classic combo to travel long distances and one that will surely attract a lot attention at gatherings of old bikes.
