Harley-Davidson FLH 80 Electra Glide
French registration - Iconic Harley-Davidson model - Same owner for over 20 years - Restoration in 2005 - In beautiful condition Electra Glide: a name that is a dream. The model emerged in 1965 to welcome the arrival of an electric starter on the Queen of the Harley-Davidsons. It must be said that the twin-cylinder engine of that time, a 1212cc unit, required strong calf muscles and a very energetic kick to get it started. It was one of the biggest cruisers in the marketplace and his particular personality secured the bike the loyalty of fans, which is so even today. The big V-twin does not boast of pure power, but offers massive torque with an unparalleled sound that vibrates the guts and has accompanied the history of the United States for the second half of the 20th century. The Electra Glide that we offer is an 80 FLH from 1979 belonging to the generation of "shovelheads" (the nickname from the "shovel" shape of the cylinder heads) with an engine size of 1337cc, and is called a "1340". It was bought new in Pasadena, in the suburbs of Los Angeles, by Robert H. Cowgill. In 1991, the current owner acquired this bike from a collector in the same city. The bike came across to Europe, and in 2005, it was completely redone. This restoration has withstood the test of time, so the bike today is in good condition. Mechanicals too received the same care and, in 2008, the clutch housing was replaced with revised primary transmission, and in 2010, the starter has received a thorough overhaul and the front tyre was replaced. A record of invoices for the 'French' period of the bike tells a great part of the work. This beautiful machine is equipped with leather saddlebags and, exceptionally, is accompanied by its security bulletins and its "owner's manual" in its vintage Harley-Davidson paper pouch. It also has its toolkit in its original leather pouch and the counter displays 66,330 miles on the odometer. Well maintained and in the hands of an enthusiast for more than 20 years, it is a fine example of an American legend.
