With Mach 1s and Boss 302s now closing in fast on six figures, smart Mustang fans have realized that the one-year-only GTA is due to become a hot commodity. This '67 GTA ragtop features a stunning triple black paint scheme, factory A/C, and a full restoration album for posterity. Thanks to a ground-up restoration that rebuilt the car practically at the molecular level, this is a no-stories Mustang ragtop. Based on the receipts and photos that accompany it, the car started as a clean southern pony and was refinished knowing that black paint was going on top. That black paint captures the original finish perfectly, with a deep shine that actually looks better in person than it does in photos-black cars are tough to photograph in direct sunlight. There's also been a significant investment in fresh chrome, new trim, and correct details like the GTA rocker panel stripes and badges, as well as the grille-mounted fog lamps. The black bucket seat interior has been fully restored as well, and everything you can touch is new. From fresh seat covers and new carpets to reproduction door panels and a new dash pad, it is new, new, new. Mustang-logo floor mats have been fitted to protect the carpets, and the original gauges are fully functional, including the rare optional tachometer and clock that keeps excellent time. By 1967, the A/C was better integrated into the dash and no longer a stand-alone unit hanging underneath, and it blows ice cold here. The original AM radio has been replaced by an AM/FM/cassette head unit, but it fits neatly in the original slot and the dash has not been cut or modified to accommodate it. Overhead, a new black power top fits snugly and there's a matching black boot that has its own storage bag. The trunk is also neatly finished with a reproduction mat and full-sized spare with tire cover. The A-code 289 4 bbl has been rebuilt and nicely detailed with no major deviations from stock. The Ford Blue paint on the block and air cleaner give it a factory look, and while it has been driven since the restoration was completed, it remains in near show-ready shape. It starts quickly and idles well, and out on the open road the barking 289 makes the most wonderful sounds through the original style dual exhaust system with quad tips. The factory A/C system is fully intact, still using R12 refrigerant so it works as intended. The C4 3-speed automatic clicks through the gears like it should, and as part of the GTA package, it received upgrades that improved performance and manual shifting. The floors are solid and unmarked, still wearing red oxide primer, the brakes are discs up front, and it rides on gorgeous styled steel wheels wearing 14-inch BFGoodrich redline radials. Mustang convertibles are always hot properties, but this GTA is special. A great color combination, factory A/C, and the limited production of the GTA make it a standout everywhere it goes, and the day is fast approaching when the market moves to these cars as the next tier of collectable Mustangs.
