Land Rover Series II

The Landrover was designed with brilliant simplicity for extraordinary ability and unrivalled strength and durability. In fact, six decades on, it is estimated that two-thirds of all these incredible vehicles are still at work - many of them in some of the most extreme conditions and inhospitable places on earth. The original 1948 Land Rover was ingeniously designed and engineered for extreme capability and strength. With robust construction and characteristics such as short front and rear overhangs, it drove off the production line ready to take on some of the world's toughest terrain. It was the product of continuous evolution and refinement throughout the 1950's and 1960's with improved stability and a tighter turning circle and was a period in which Land Rover took the lead in the emerging market for four-wheel drive vehicles. As a tough, reliable mobility platform, countless organisations came to depend on Land Rover vehicles to get personnel and equipment into the most challenging situations…and then safely out again.
Owned and loved by a farmer in Cornwall for over 40 years, this Series II Landrover has been totally restored within the last 20 years to include a galvanised chassis, new canvas and Fairey free-wheeling hubs on the front wheels. This example also has overdrive on 3rd & 4th gears. The 2386cc petrol engine was recently overhauled with bills to substantiate the work contained within the history file which also includes a large owner's manual and total breakdown of all the parts used in its construction. The vendor believes the odometer reading of 41,600 to be correct and with classic Landrovers, such as the Queen's (sold recently by Historics for nearly £28,000), hitting the headlines, it is clear these indomitable vehicles occupy a place in the nation's heart.

1985 Porsche 911 Carerra RS ( GBP 16000 )

Little needs to be added about the meteoric rise and domination of Porsche's flagship 911 - suffice to say that the combination of understated styling, sound mechanics and often brutal performance firmly secured its position within the automotive history books. With generations of improvements adding to a heady concoction and pushing further and further to provide the ultimate driving experience, 1984 saw the launch of a replacement for the successful SC series, the 3.2 Carrera, reviving the Carrera name for the first time since 1977. This was indeed the last iteration in the original 911 series with all subsequent models featuring new body styling with new brakes, electronics and suspension technologies. A new higher-displacement motor, a 3.2-litre horizontally opposed flat 6-cylinder, was utilised. With the new engine, power was increased to 207bhp. This version of the 911 accelerated from 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds and had a top speed of 150 mph as measured by Autocar.
With the usual configurations available such as convertible, targa and coupé, there was also the option of the RS conversion which included such extras as a modified interior, teardrop wing-mirrors, a more streamlined front bumper treatment and slightly stiffer suspension. These are few and far between but is exactly what is on offer today. Sitting on Cup alloy wheels and sporting an additional anti-roll bar over the front suspension, this extremely good looking Carrera benefits from the most important of attributes for any Porsche; a comprehensive and detailed history file. Each service is fully detailed with invoices and dates, each owner change and garage visit, every single aspect of this car that received any attention over the last 28 years is documented and filed. Supplied with a Tracker, a full one year MoT test certificate and fresh service, this represents a sound example of the marque.

1934 BSA 10 H.P. Peerless Coupé ( GBP 7500 )

BSA cars were manufactured between 1907 and 1912 in Birmingham, then until 1939 in both Coventry and Birmingham. BSA had established a motor-car department in an unsuccessful effort to make use of the Sparkbrook Birmingham factory, an independent part of the same site was occupied by The Lanchester Motor Company Limited. After 1912, manufacture was carried out by group subsidiary Daimler in Coventry or BSA Cycles in Birmingham. BSA brand ownership eventually passed to Tata Motors, after their purchase of Jaguar Cars. Jaguar had previously purchased Daimler Motor Company, a legal challenge halted the creation of a BSA-badged car to be made in China, the case only applies to cars, not other products, such as bikes
This delightful BSA Peerless coupé is thought to be one of only 3 manufactured and one of only two bodies built by 'Coventry Motor and Sundries Co Ltd'. A recent two year chassis up restoration-including a new ash frame- has resulted in this BSA having a new lease of life for many years to come. The engine and gearbox were also overhauled, together with new glass, some re-chroming, new wiring and new tyres; the original blue leather seats have been retained offering a splendid patina to the interior. Supplied with a V5 registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until 18th September 2013, the original buff logbook showing the WD7856 index plate the car still retains today, together with a history file. An interesting pre-war car at an affordable price.

1991 Range Rover CSK ( GBP 14000 )

$

The first generation Range Rover was produced between 1970 and 1996. The original car was not designed as a luxury-type 4x4; while certainly up-market compared to preceding Land Rover models, the early Range Rovers had fairly basic, utilitarian interiors with vinyl seats and plastic dashboards designed to be washed down with a hose. Features such as power assisted steering, carpeted floors, air conditioning, cloth/leather seats, and wooden interior trim were fitted later. The Range Rover was a body-on-frame design with a box section ladder type chassis similar to contemporary Land Rovers. The Range Rover utilised coil springs as opposed to leaf springs, permanent four-wheel drive and four-wheel disc brakes and was originally powered by the Rover V8 engine. The limited edition Range Rover CSK is named after Charles Spencer King, the man who designed the original two-door Range Rover over 40 years ago with production limited to just 200 units, each car having an individually numbered plaque on the radio panel confirming its exclusivity.
This stunning Range Rover CSK has recently been owned by Lord Rothschild and has benefitted immensely from some significant investment carried out by Vantagefield International in Hertfordshire. A history file accompanies the car containing most of the previous MoT certificates, together with invoices for work carried out throughout its life. In 2009, Vantagefield undertook a 'John Eagles' engine upgrade at a cost of over £8,000, significant coachwork repairs due to corrosion and a full respray in the original Beluga Black. New interior trim was also fitted and the seats were re-trimmed in leather with alcantara inserts. The dashboard has also been trimmed in alcantara and the wood finished in piano black. The overall cost of the restoration was £38,885.52 resulting in, what must surely be, one of the finest CSK's available today. Supplied with a V5 registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until 7th January 2014, this Range Rover is incredible value given the estimate.

1938 Jaguar SS 1½ litre Saloon ( GBP 26000 )

The Jaguar MK. IV was a re-launch of a pre-Second World War model made by SS Cars Ltd. from 1936. Before the war, the name Jaguar was the model name given to the complete range of cars built by SS Cars Ltd. The saloons were titled SS Jaguar 1½ litre, 2½ litre or 3½ litre. After the war, the company name was changed to Jaguar Cars Ltd. All the cars were built on a separate chassis frame with suspension by semi-elliptic leaf springs on the front and rear. Pre-war, the car was available as a saloon or drophead coupé, although post war only the saloon was produced. Prior to 1938, body construction on all the models was by the traditional steel on wood method but in that year it changed to all steel. The cabin dimensions and well-appointed interior were very similar to its larger-engined brothers.
This striking Jaguar SS 1½ litre saloon is a matching numbers car as confirmed by the accompanying Jaguar Heritage certificate. Supplied originally to a Mr. Jack Trotman of Stockport on 6th August 1938, it is believed Mr.Trotman kept the car for 62 years with the car changing hands for the first time in September 2000. Finding its way to Italy in the new millennium, this 1½ litre saloon underwent restoration, although the original seats were retained and have a splendid patina to them. The Jaguar returned to the UK in March 2012 and the current vendor managed to re-register the car on the original registration plate of BOW 353. According to the Jaguar Owners Club, there are only 61 1½litre all steel saloon cars worldwide and it is thought this is one of only six in the UK. Supplied with a V5 registration document and a full year's MoT test certificate, together with a comprehensive collection of photos detailing the restoration, this is a rare opportunity to purchase a very useable pre-war classic.

1988 Mercedes-Benz 300SL ( GBP 10000 )

Mercedes-Benz have been producing an SL (Sport Leicht) model or range of models since 1954. The similarly styled but mechanically unrelated 190 followed in 1955 completing the first generation of cars, while the second generation SL's began with the 230 in 1963. It was distinguished by its lower waistline, big curved screens and a distinctive optional hardtop that earned the model its nickname of `pagoda top'. Over its nine years of production, the second generation SL's engine grew in capacity from 2.3 litres (230SL) to 2.5 litres (250SL) and finally to 2.8 litres (280SL). The larger, third generation SL was launched in 1971, initially with just a 3.5-litre engine (350SL) mated to four-speed automatic transmission. The car featured a two-door monocoque body shell with independent suspension all round, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the front and semi-trailing arms, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the rear. The power assisted steering was Daimler-Benz's own re-circulating ball system.
First registered on 8th February 1988, this outstanding Mercedes-Benz was acquired by the current vendor on 20th October 1989 and, although the V5 shows a third owner, it merely changed from company to private ownership. In view of the limited number of owners, the mileage is warranted although the service history is a little inconsistent. The condition of this 107 model SL is, however, not in doubt and is certainly commensurate with such a low mileage. Finished in Silver blue metallic with beige leather trim and benefitting from the additional rear seats together with a hardtop, it is supplied with a V5 registration document and valid MoT test certificate. Values of these SL Mercedes-Benz have been increasing in recent times; looking at the condition of this one it is easy to understand why.

1974 Jensen Interceptor Convertible ( GBP 28000 )

The Jensen Interceptor is a sporting GT-class car that was hand-built at the Kelvin Way Factory, near Birmingham, between 1966 and 1976. The Interceptor name had also been used by Jensen for the Interceptor made between 1950 and 1957 at the Carters Green factory. Jensen had extensively used glass-reinforced plastic for the fabrication of body panels in the preceding two decades but the new Interceptor saw a return to a steel body-shell with the body designed by an outside firm, Carrozzeria Touring of Italy, rather than the in-house staff. The early bodies were Italian-built by Vignale before production by Jensen themselves in West Bromwich began; with subtle body modifications. The Interceptor took its styling cues from the Brasinca Uirapuru, with a distinctive large, curving wrap-around rear window that doubled as a tailgate. The original specification included electric windows, reclining front seats, a wood rimmed steering wheel, radio with twin speakers, reversing lights and an electric clock. Power steering was included as standard from September 1968.

This beautiful Interceptor Convertible is well known within the Jensen club, coming 3rd in their concours event in 1992. Lord Strathcarron, a prominent Jensen owner, used the car in 'The Star is the Car' television programme; little wonder when admiring the curvaceous lines of this 1974 iconic convertible. Finished in red with black leather trim, the spacious interior combines comfort with great ergonomics. The engine runs very smoothly and the vendor describes the car as being "delightful" to drive. Supplied with a V5 registration document, a valid MoT test certificate and benefitting from a recent service, this Jensen is ready to be enjoyed immediately.

1976 Bentley T1 ( GBP 8000 )

$

The Bentley T-Series was the Bentley badged version of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, available as a four or two door saloon with coachwork by James Young or Mulliner Park Ward. The Bentley differed from its Rolls-Royce equivalent by its more rounded front grill, while the badging on the wheel covers, boot lid and gauges naturally featured Bentley motifs rather than the Rolls-Royce logo. In October 1966, the 'T' saloon's pre-tax 'list price' of £5,375 undercut the Rolls-Royce by £50! The Bentley was technically an identical twin of the Rolls-Royce and seemed to have been purchased mostly by owners wishing for a more understated luxury saloon. The former sporting image of Bentley motor cars differing from Rolls-Royces had gone by the time the Silver Shadow/Bentley 'T' was introduced and this was no longer a primary reason to purchase a Bentley over the Rolls-Royce sibling.

A Bentley T1 is a rare car today with only 1,703 units manufactured in the production run from 1965 to 1977 and, as seen by the chassis number, this Bentley is late in the production run. This car was originally supplied by the Heron group in Halesowen, to Mr. John Orchard of The Bright Steel Co. Ltd. in Tipton, Staffordshire. The car was maintained and serviced within the franchise until 2000 when it appeared at Lex in Weybridge; since then the car has been maintained by marque specialists. The history and recent MoT's would indicate the mileage of 93,783 to be correct. Supplied with a V5 registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until 10th November 2013, the car is finished in two-tone Pewter over Moorland with beige trim. This T1 is in need of a little time and investment but is certain to bring pleasure to the new owner as well as becoming a rising asset.
