1947 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith ( USD 350000 )
Doors: 0
Introduced in 1946 as Rolls-Royce's first postwar model the Silver Wraith had many new features including a F-head engine of 125hp, revised coil spring independent front suspension and a new chassis frame. In contrast to its Silver Dawn stablemate all Silver Wraiths were bodied by independent coachbuilders, continuing Rolls-Royce's tradition of catering to the desires of its clientele for bespoke, individual, creations. Most were bodied by Rolls-Royce's British colleagues but a few were bodied by Continental coachbuilders who favored the chassis with some of their most imaginative creations, including this 1947 Silver Wraith with drophead coupe coachwork by Parisian carrossier Franay, the first of just six individual bodies it built on the Silver Wraith. Founded in 1903, Franay was known for the quality of its work on the finest chassis of the classic and postwar periods, quality which is apparent in this refined yet also distinctive Silver Wraith built to the order of Swiss physician Dr. M. Adel Latif. Its sweeping teardrop fenders and skirted rear wheels reflect modest aerodynamic influences complementing the steel wheels (a feature new to the Silver Wraith) and whitewall tires. Marius Franay would soon yield to the postwar French fascination for chrome but this example is refreshingly restrained with only a discrete and attractive thin beltline molding and chrome accents on the leading edges of the front fenders that are attractively balanced by a pair of low-set fog lights, a single central driving light and headlights nestled in teardrop housings between the fenders and the Rolls-Royce grille. It is finished in --- and is upholstered in ------ leather and accompanied by a dark -- cloth top. The righthand drive chassis has a floor shift for the 4-speed gearbox. Restored some time ago, it has been carefully maintained in a major collection and presents and drives well, a unique example of the craftsmanship and quality of Rolls-Royce and one of France's premier coachbuilders. Its Franco-Britannic, individually designed and built heritage positions it for participation in many events where its presence will be valued and appreciated.

352 ci 300 hp interceptor special V-8, cruise-o-matic transmission, power steering, power brakes, power windows and 4 way power drivers seat, rare factory sun roof with only 2,536 built. Showing just 16k miles and judging by the nearly pristine original upholstery, trunk lining and chrome, it appears correct. Stated to be a prior California car. Absolutely zero rust or collision damage, it has got to be one of the best around. This car has never been restored and we have no history. Upon close inspection it appears to still have some of its original code A paint, with a few careful touch ups. The last and most desirable of the sporty and elegant 4 place square birds and only one year with iconic 6 tail lights and sunroof. A very impressive car in every way.

Showing 92k miles and appears correct and matches the excellent original interior and vinyl top. Very nicely refinished in X code vintage Burgundy. The R coded VIN indicated a San Jose, California built and it also appears to still have all the original California smog equipment, coinciding with super solid body and even gaps of all body panels and door fits. This is about as good as it gets for one of these desirable little Ponys.

1926 Rolls-Royce 20 HP ( GBP 37500 )
A charming, upright vintage saloon, in very sound condition, with various early features, such as an oval rear window, giving the car character and appeal. The coachwork is strong and substantial, attractive cosmetically without being pristine, and is absolutely correct. The underside is very clean, with a recent stainless steel exhaust system, and the engine bay is really excellently presented, being just as it should be and very smart indeed. Re-wired in correct, cotton-covered cable. A lovely car all round.
Chassis No. GUK34. Reg No. BF 5972. £37,500.
Snippets: Golf Clubs & a Royal Scandal
Delivered to Mr D K Hall of Sundridge in Eastbourne, both Mr & Mrs Hall were keen golf players in 1927 Mr Hall won the Prichard Cup & in 1935 his wife won the Culmore Cup. There is a note on the chassis card that GUK34 was originally destined for India - 1904 DK Hall had an opening handicap at the Calcutta Golf Club (opened in 1829 & is the oldest golf club outside the British Isles). Their UK home of Sundridge had previously been owned by Robert Boyle, who in 1908 was a Fellow of the Zoological Society of London, after Robert Boyle’s death in 1921 Sir G. J. Fowler purchased the property of Sundrige – his son-in-law I. Geddes had been Captain of the Scottish Rugby XV in 1908 as was Geddes’ son in 1945. During the 1930s the car was registered to Henry Edward Wiggett of Allanby Park in Binfield. From various research it would appear that Allanby Park was inherited by General Sir Robert Sturges (son-in-law of H Wiggett) & in 1947 Allanby was sold to Major John Lycett Wills (tobacco). His wife Jean Constance Elphinstone was 1st cousin to HRH Princess Margaret (Jean’s mother was Lady Mary Francis Bowes-Lyon elder sister of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon) & in 1955 at the height of the Princess Margaret / Captain Peter Townsend story Major & Mrs Wills acted as weekend hosts to Margaret & Peter whilst they discussed the possibility of marriage! During the 1960 & 1970s GUK34 spent some time in the USA where she was restored by Thomas E Troxell of Coopersberg, Thomas Troxell didn’t just dealt in vintage cars he used them to their full potential & his favourite was a 1929 Model A Woodie which he built from parts, in 1990 he drove the Woodie some 14,000 miles around the world – Coopersberg - New York, London – Peking, Seattle – Coopersberg.

1936 Auburn Speedster
To a public weary of the Depression, the new Auburn speedster was automotive hope personified. Here was a car everyone could identify with, dream about, and wish for. It became, in many ways, the rolling icon of the Art Deco era. Auburn Speedsters didn't just look fast, they were fast. To prove this, famed speed-demon and race driver Ab Jenkins sat behind the wheel of an 851 speedster and was the first American to set a 100 mph average for a 12-hour period endurance record in a completely stock 851SC speedster. As a result, each speedster built carried a dash plaque attesting to its over 100 mph capability, bearing Ab Jenkins’ signature. Priced at $2,245 when new, estimates peg Auburn’s loss per speedster at about $300 for every car built. But the logic behind Cord's decision was that this sleek model attracted customers to come in and purchase less expensive but more profitable models. As a consequence, very few speedsters were built, making them highly prized today.
The Auburn we offer is one of the best known examples in ACD circles, having spent more than 30 years as part of the David H. Tunick Collection. Since the dispersal of the Tunick Collection in 2005, the car first resided with a collector who arranged for the car to be sent to noted restorer Jim Stranberg, of High Mountain Classics in Denver, Colorado. Stranberg carried out a comprehensive restoration to the highest standards, at a cost of $480,000. Completed in time for the 2007 Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance, the car was stunning. It was finished in a two-tone maroon and silver paint scheme, which, although attractive, was not correct, and consequently, the car failed to earn a class win. Wisely, the vendor immediately commissioned a high quality repaint in the car’s original black, but the correct dark red leather interior was retained, returning it to the way it would have looked when delivered new more than 70 years ago. The most recent owner has maintained the car to his exacting standards since acquiring it in 2008. After importing the car to the UK, it was registered and has since also been honoured with a Best of Class award at the prestigious concours at Villa d’Este on Lake Como. Today, the car is simply stunning, as befits the quality of the restoration. There is no evidence of even minor ageing since completion, a testament to both the quality of the restoration and the conditions under which the car has been kept. Paint, chrome, and upholstery are near superb, and the engine bay and chassis detailing is exemplary. Any Auburn 852 speedster is a joy to behold and a pleasure to drive.
Given this car’s outstanding restoration quality and award-winning provenance, we strongly encourage close attention to this exceptional motor car’s offering. Avaliable to view in our

1937 Lagonda LG45 To Rapide Specification
Registration Number: PSY 918 Chassis Number: 12195
In September 1936, Lagonda announced the LG45 Rapide as the fastest car in the world. It used the engineering found on the LG45R race cars, but with pleasant and stylish touring body that became the quintessential British prewar car. Frank Feeley was responsible for styling this Tourer which featured four seats, huge front fenders, cutaway doors and stylish external chrome exhausts. Like the competition cars, the Rapide used a high-compression engine and better gearing for increased top speed. In 1937 'The Motor' achieved 108 mph proving it as a genuine 100 mph car. Only 25 of the special LG45 were produced and this small series represents probably the most desirable model made by Lagonda in the prewar period.
The previous owner purchased the car in April 1986, the receipt for which still remains in the cars file. In mid 1989 he commissioned Messrs. Barry Simson Restorations of Devon to collect the car and start a full restoration. Unfortunately in mid 1991 with the car approximately 85% completed, Barry Simpson Restorations went into administration. He the re-negotiated with John Goulstone, who had been a senior body and engine fitter with Barry Simson, to take on and complete the remainder of the restoration. Some three years on the car was finished. Subsequently the engine was rebuilt with a new block from 'LMB Racing' in Belgium along with many other new engine components such as a new and much improved crankshaft, new higher spec. connecting rods, pistons and a totally new ported and gas flowed aluminium cylinder head The result was effectively a new engine with an increased compression ratio - now 8.3:1 - and much improved breathing. The original engine block is supplied with the car. The new cylinder head was to a Sanction One design due to the preference of many owners and racers needing the greater tuning potential of the sanction one over the later sanction three. Additional and sensible modifications include a new fuel pump cut out switch just under the facia board. A front oil cooler vent leading to the oil cooler concealed just below the radiator and an oil temperature gauge is concealed in the glove compartment. The car has been used on a number of occasions in the south of France in high ambient temperature and an oil temperature gauge was deemed sensible but concealed so as to leave the facia board as 'original' as possible. A magneto emergency cut off facility has been installed for competitive events and the cast red warning 'arrow' is in the glove box and attaches to a spigot on the facia seen when the cigarette lighter has been removed.
There are a huge number of invoices on file detailing all of the restoration work that has been carried out on the car dating from the mid 1980's to present. PSY 918 has also been the subject of recent significant expenditure including four new splined hubs and five completely new wheels. Two rebuilt Scintilla magnetos were fitted in 2009/10. A car that is incredibly well known and respected in Lagonda Club circles, this LG 45 with replica factory body represents a unique opportunity to be a part of a very, very exclusive club. Finished in gleaming Masons Black with suede green leather interior. Simply stunning!

1959 Jaguar XK150 S by Bertone
Mr Bertone was a great stylist who created this Jaguar XK150 S with a Coupe body designed by Franco Scaglione. Only three units were made. Alongside the special Bertone designed Aston Martin DB2/4 and the Maserati 3500 GT, the same year saw the unveiling of a Jaguar-based prototype, the XK 150. Close up the lateral ridges recall the styling of the Bertone designed Maserati 3500 GT and as in the case of the other experimental models, the Jaguar also stood out for its sporty personality and simple, tight styling. The slim tail and imposing front view which conceals a powerful Jaguar engine are joined by smooth full wings. With the ultimate 3.8 litre six cylinder unit producing 250 bhp this car was more than a match for its Italian rivals. Of the three produced only one is known to survive, the car you see here. Recently repatriated from an important Jaguar collection where it resided for many years this represents a unique opportunity to acquire an important and beautiful piece of Jaguar history. The car is in extremely good order throughout and is beautifully detailed with many unique styling features. This absolutely stunning and unique Jaguar will be a fantastic addition to any serious collection or as a fast Grand Tourer with real panache which will surely be invited to all the major prestigious events.
