Someone forgot to tell this 1972 Oldsmobile 442 that the muscle car era was winding down when it was built, because it has a look and stance of a seriously potent street brawler. Packing its numbers-matching Rocket 350 engine, this awesome Olds looks fast just sitting still and backs it up with legitimate street cred. Bright red isn't this car's original color (it's code 28 Royal Blue), I don't think anyone's going to complain about the color choice. The 442 was never about subtlety, and in fire engine red with a tail spoiler, the fastback styling gives this Olds exactly the right look. Bodywork is nicely finished and the car was completely disassembled for the color change, as there's no trace of the original blue paint anywhere. The gently flared rear fenders combine with the sloping rear bodywork to create a unique profile that makes this A-body stand apart from its siblings, and the white pinstripe emphasizes what really are some beautiful curves. The hood grilles look like they should be venting a jet engine, along with mesh grilles and blacked-out headlight bezels up front. Correct 442 emblems have been fitted all around, just to warn the guys too blind to notice the stance and the wing, and it's all been finished to a very high standard. Show up in this car, and people are going to notice! Grab your sunglasses and climb into the dazzling white interior, which is all-new from headliner to carpets. Comfy bucket seats flank a factory console, and they're wrapped in fresh white leather seat covers that have a highly detailed look with their horizontal pleats and buttons, perfect for the upscale Olds. Three round gauge pods hold the super-crisp stainless-faced instruments, surrounded by a warm wood applique that helps to warm up the 442's interior. And remarkably, everything works, including the A/C, the original AM/FM radio, and even the clock! That steering wheel is a factory piece that looks like a racy aftermarket item, and it suits the dual nature of the 442 perfectly. Under that sloping rear deck, there's a very large trunk with spotless floors and quarters, a new mat, and a full-sized spare tire. Fully restored to stock specs and detailed for show, the matching-numbers Rocket 350 under the hood is definitely no slouch in the performance department. Sure, they changed the way they measured horsepower in '72, but the performance was the same, and Oldsmobile fans know that the torque output of even the small block V8 is impressive. Gold paint was an Olds trademark for decades, and it proudly advertises with a reproduction decal on a chrome air cleaner lid. Other reproduction decals decorate the engine bay so it looks factory correct, and with power steering and brakes, this is an effortless cruiser. Underneath it's clean and shows off its factory undercoated floors which are rust-free. A reproduction exhaust system gives it just the right note, terminating in cool quad tips that look like they were borrowed from a GTO. Beautiful American Racing wheels fit the lowered stance perfectly and wear staggered 17-inch Toyo radials (original wheels can be included with the sale). Awesome good looks, a bulletproof powertrain, and enough luxury to make it painless to drive, this 442 has it all. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom.
