There's a real purity to the early Camaros-clean lines, a small block V8 under the hood, and lively performance that is still impressive today. This 1968 Camaro SS tells you all you need to know about why these cars were homeruns when they were new. With a nicely restored body in Bolero Red, a rumbling 350 under the hood, a 4-speed stick, and a clean, updated interior, this is a car that will make you smile every time you pull it out of the garage. The bodywork has been refinished in the sizzling Bolero Red, and the results are impressive. It's a vivid, bright red that bounces off the body and looks amazing in the sunlight, and it's the perfect hue for an early V8 Camaro. The panels have obviously been professionally refinished to a high standard, with a lot of block sanding involved in getting everything smooth. SS details were added during the restoration, but the effect is very convincing and who doesn't love black stripes running nose to tail? A cowl induction hood, an SS grille, and 350 emblems were installed to complete the illusion. Front and rear bumpers are in great condition and shine up nicely, and the black vinyl roof ties it all together quite well. Other additions include a passenger-side mirror and the ducktail spoiler out back, which, honestly, every Camaro should wear. The interior has been tweaked and given a high-fashion makeover with beautiful houndstooth inserts in the black bucket seats. New carpets and a fresh headliner make it look fresh inside, and there's no better way to get comfortable in an early F-body than in a set of houndstooth buckets with a center console between them. The gauges appear to be all original with a set of accessory auxiliary gauges in the usual place on the center console, just under the AM/FM/MP3 stereo. A Hurst cue ball manages the 4-speed manual transmission, and the skinny factory steering wheel has that classic 1960s look that seems to show up in an awful lot of recent resto-mods we've seen, simply because it's an icon. The trunk is tidy with no trouble spots, and includes a new mat and full-sized Rally wheel and tire assembly. The engine is a GM crate 350 that looks very correct with Chevy Orange paint that really makes the engine stand out. There's a Comp Cams bumpstick inside that gives it a nasty, cackling idle and plenty of high-RPM urge. There's not much you can do to improve a 350's reliability, but this one has a lot of new parts that should be good for a long time, and linked to a 4-speed and 10-bolt rear it's bulletproof. Long-tube headers and Flowmaster mufflers give it a truly gnarly exhaust note, and it rolls on staggered 15-inch Rallys wearing BFGoodrich radials. Tidy, nice-driving Camaros are not as common as you'd think, and although this one has some upgrades, it still delivers that original driving experience. With a sweet-running small block under the hood and a great-looking body, this is a car that will always be in demand. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
