The Mercedes-Benz W201 is a compact executive car manufactured from 1982 to 1993 and marketed under variants of the Mercedes 190 nameplate. The W201 featured a patented rear 5-link suspension subsequently used in E and C-Class models, front and rear anti-roll bars, anti-dive and anti-squat geometry, ABS brakes and seatbelt pretensioners. The W201 enjoyed strong sales in Europe but faired poorly in the United States and production ended on 13th April, 1993 after the manufacture of approximately 1.8 million examples. The 190 and its variants were succeeded in the compact executive car range by the C-Class, a newly created nameplate. Mercedes-Benz spent over £600 million researching and developing the 190 and subsequently reported it to be 'massively over-engineered'.
First registered on 13th January 1993, this 190E has only had two custodians throughout its 20 year life and has clearly been well cared for. Rarely do we see such a car that has only ever been maintained at a Mercedes-Benz main dealer; this 190E has 22 stamps from an official dealer in the service book, the last in July 2010 from Mercedes-Benz of Bath. Finished in Almandine with beige cloth trim, this automatic transmission 190E also benefits from electric windows and a sunroof. Supplied with a V5 registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until 13th June 2013 together with the original literature pack, this Mercedes-Benz is offered at no reserve.
