Audi Quattro
Belgian title - Legendary rally car - Recent mechanical rebuild - Superb presentation Audi created a revolution in the world of rallying when it introduced the Quattro in 1980. It literally propelled the discipline into a new era, with its turbo engines and four-wheel drive transmission. The genesis of this great sporting adventure can be attributed to the man in charge, Ferdinand Piëch. Under his direction, Audi unveiled the Audi Quattro at the 1980 Geneva Motor Show, a coupé that took its body from the coupé 80, but mechanically was fizzing with innovation. The 2-litre 5-cylinder engine was turbocharged and produced 200 bhp transmitted to the wheels via four-wheel drive transmission. This was fiendishly effective, and augured well for the rally version being developed at the same time. Strong results in competition soon came and Audi won the Constructors' title in the World Rally Championship in its second complete season, in 1982. The car on offer left the factory on 31 March 1983. According to its owner, it was used by the Audi team to carry out reconnaissance on rallies. The official team, appropriately structured, used back-up cars, which were equipped with " semi-racing " equipment. The car was then bought by a French driver who took part in several rallies on his own home ground. It was later sold again to a Belgian and in 2010 the car was prepared to compete in the Tour de Corse Historique. It appeared in white and yellow livery, with official team decoration, as well as the extras required for a rally car : extra lights and rally tyres. The engine was rebuilt in 2012 by Francis Dosières and easily produces 250 bhp. Here is a car that is a part of the history of rallying, ready to take to the asphalt !
