Renault 4 CV berline
Belgium title - Interesting early version - Period radio - An iconic automobile - no reserve The 1946 Motor Show: motorists frustrated by five years of deprivation rushed through the doors of the Grand Palais to find pre-war models brought out again...Innovations were few and far between, but the 4 CV was one of the first and it immediately won over the hearts of its drivers. Conceived during the war, it offered the simplicity of a design that was " all at the back ", the economy of a modern four-cylinder push rod engine, attractive styling and four full-sized seats. Weighing scarcely half a tonne, it had a top speed of over 90 km/h with low fuel consumption. This combination of features represented a car offering freedom to many households with limited resources, synonymous with the holiday road, the famous Nationale 7. The 4 CV on offer is a wonderful 'six moustache' version that was one of the earliest models. It was imported into Belgium at the start of the 2000s to be used by the wife of a collector. In 2010, it entered the collection of the current owner, who works in the Renault business. In dark blue, with pretty Robri trim along the sides of the front wings, this is the archetypal popular, smart French car. Of particular note, fitted in the dashboard of our car, is the very rare period Novak radio. This can only add to the enjoyment of driving this car.
