Lamborghini Espada série 1
French registration - 300 km/h for four! - Typically 1970s - Car has spent its life in France - One of just 186 Series 1 cars - No reserve Building on the success of the Miura, Lamborghini tackled a new challenge - to produce a four-seater "supercar" that would combine sportiness and roominess. The first signal of this intent appeared at the 1967 edition of the Geneva Motor Show in the form of the Marzal, the work of the brilliant Marcello Gandini, a recent recruit at design house Bertone. At the Geneva Motor Show of 1968, Lamborghini unveiled the Espada, the more realistic production version, signed by the same designer. The car boasted of very impressive performance, thanks to the extraordinary 3.9L V12 that the car shared with the Miura. In its ultimate version, the Series III, the Espada offered even more performance, that of 350bhp. In metallic grey, this car on offer was first registered on January 8, 1969 by its first owner, an avid Lamborghini fan living in the Hauts-de-Seine region of France. This is a model from the first series. For the record, we note that on 8th January 1969, importer Cars Paris Monceau also registered another Espada, that for the famous French star Jacques Dutronc, who had acquired the year a yellow Miura P400! On 3rd November 1971, the car was sold to Metz where it was registered 4782 RQ 57, and the car changed hands once again less than a year later. Indeed, it came back to Paris, bought by Mr. Lucien D'Amato and registered on August 9th 1972 with the registration number 1493 YM 75. Note that the Ferrari Daytona proposed in our sale (frame 16119) from the same family of enthusiasts, namely Michel Amato, the brother of Lucien. The car was then sold on the first day of 1975 through Central Garage at 52 rue Lecourbe in Paris, the Lamborghini returning to Lorraine in Nancy this time, where the registration number was changed to 2330 TL 54. The current owner is crazy about the brand, and has a 350 GT and two other Espadas, not to mention a beautiful Citroen DS cabriolet! He told us: "I am selling the Espada to allow another Lamborghini fan to join the 50th anniversary of the marque this year ... and I covet a Miura, so I would prefer looking for one instead! ' This car has the elegant dash worthy of a sci-fi movie and is inspired by the Marzal prototype, plus with a fantastic engine, deserves the attention of fans, especially since it is at a price level lower than many cars that are of comparable specifications and prestige.
