Mercedes Benz 600 SWB
Monegasque registration - Clear history and from princely provenance - The limousine for heads of states and the Jet-Set - Comes with many period options The 600 was presented by Mercedes-Benz in 1963, replacing the 300. It was the most luxurious limousine ever produced by the German manufacturer, even taking into account the 770 of the 1930s. It incorporated all the technological advances of the brand and all the refinements possible. The car was above criticism and 35 years later remains one of the most successful limousines ever. Its 6.3 Liter engine and 250bhp (DIN) was the first V8 built by Mercedes, and was capable of propelling the 2,500kg car to over 200 km/h in a silence worthy of a Rolls-Royce. The 600 was offered in three versions, the 600 four-door limousine, the 600 six doors Pullman limousine and the Landaulette (six doors, but with a removable roof over the passengers). There were special versions of these models and even two two-door coupes from 1964.Amongst technical specifications, the car was suspended by air, plus adjustable shock absorbers, hydraulic opening of the trunk, adjustable steering column, two separate systems for heating and air conditioning, plus a bar fridge at the rear. Only 2,677 Mercedes 600 were built, of which the four-door limousines were 2190, 428 were Pullman limousines and 59 were the 600 Pullman landaulets. The current owner, a resident of Monaco, is the President of a large retail chain and he acquired this car from the first owner, the Queen Mother of Saudi Arabia. Obviously, the transaction was done by a trusted men of the Emir as to who car had been allocated to. An official document shows it as a gift. It is therefore a secondhand car with the interior equipment with many options. The flagship of Mercedes-Benz was delivered with a separate driver area, camouflaging with elegant shelves, a refrigerated bar and the famous reclining seat. Light wood paneling, in lemon colour is certainly in very good condition, and nicely varnished. This is one of the best limousines from the post-war era, and remaining still widely in use in many countries for official receptions.
