Citroën DS 19 berline
French registration - Early, rare and much sought after - Restoration of quality - Three owners only - No reserve That Citroën today has taken the name "DS" for its modern range of cars speaks volumes about the prestige of this model in the history of the brand. Since the Traction Avant Citroën was clearly a maker of unconventional cars with avant-garde techniques, but the DS unveiled in 1955 represented a giant step forward compared to all the conventional cars then plying on the roads of Europe. Alongside the classical Peugeot 403, the Citroen DS was regarded as an alien vehicle. This of course gave the car the coveted status that it enjoys today admired by all aesthetes as a work of art, what with its fascinating he hydraulic system that managed the suspension. The DS' driving dynamics enabled the car to shine thereafter in rally events such as the snowbound Lyon-Charbonnières, the Tour de Corse and even the Rallye Monte-Carlo, where the car showed a special ability to tackle snow. The DS 19 sedan that we present here was registered in France on December 16, 1959 and has had only one owner till 1985. That year the car was acquired by Micheline Champagne Ste-Geneviève-des-Bois. It is from them that the current owner acquired this car a decade ago. Since then, the car has seen a complete restoration, getting the car back to the state it deserves to be. Painted a sky blue with night blue roof, the car's a beauty. Easy to use, this DS offers a spacious interior and a comfortable car with proven mechanicals that is known to be very reliable. When in addition you can get a version of the oldest and most popular of the DS, which just three owners, it becomes a most enviable collector's piece indeed.
