Renault 4 CV berline
French title - Great car - Superb presentation - Modifications and improvements to the performance - No reserve The 1946 Motor Show: motorists frustrated by five years of deprivation rushed through the doors of the Grand Palais to find pre-war models brought out again...Innovations were few and far between, but the 4 CV was one of the first and it immediately won over the hearts of its drivers. Conceived during the war, it offered the simplicity of a design that was " all at the back ", the economy of a modern four-cylinder push rod engine, attractive styling and four full-sized seats. Weighing scarcely half a tonne, it had a top speed of over 90 km/h with low fuel consumption. This combination of features represented a car offering freedom to many households with limited resources, synonymous with the holiday road, the famous Nationale 7. The 4 CV on offer was bought by the current owner in 2010 fresh from a thorough restoration carried out by the former head of a Renault workshop. He had taken the opportunity to make certain modifications to improve the handling of the car and make it more enjoyable to drive. Numerous spare parts invoices evidence the work carried out. It has a 845 cc Ventoux engine, originally from a Dauphine, with special overhead cam and large sump. The car has wind down windows and a rev counter behind the steering wheel. It also has larger drums and four rear shock absorbers, and the wheels are fitted with little used Michelin tyres. In green livery, this attractive car comes with carte grise corresponding to the original specification. It is in superb condition, inside and out, and will provide its new owner with enormous pleasure.
