Rumi Formichino modifié compétition type Bol d'Or
Unregistered, sold with invoice Engine # R125 2876 - All the charm of a Formichino - Very neat and expensive preparation - Very efficient in its class - An original ride for historic racing In a gathering of scooters of the 1950s, the one who rode a Formichino ("ant in Italian") was the king. With the sound of its angry 125cc two-stroke twin-cylinder revving at 6000rpm, the Rumi wore its shell frame in light alloy housing, which in turn was attached to a the motor and a four-speed gearbox controlled by foot pegs. It featured a swing arm rear suspension and streamlined headlamps to give this scooter the style that was the envy of riders of smaller motorcycles and scooters. It also had excellent road behavior with superb handling and a great agility. It is true that the design studio that the manufacturer engaged, that of engineer Salmaggi, who was also the designer to have developed the legendary Gilera Saturno. To exploit the unique personality of this restless "ant", a sports version appeared, called the Bol d'Or, in honor of the victories in 1957 and 1958 of the famous 24-hour race at the Linas-Montlhery racing circuit. This version was more powerful, developing 8bhp at 7200rpm and detailed technical changes were made to the suspension and engine. The Rumi Formichino we offer is a modified to Bol d'Or specifications to enable it to participate in endurance races and is in alignment with the spirit of the times and changes in the machinery involved in events such as the Bol d'Or. Thus, it is equipped with a fork arm, bigger wheels, a larger capacity tank and a special exhaust. The engine, the preparation of which has been made regardless of cost, is according to the latest developments, with dual ignition (as a Rumi Gobbetto competition), twin carburetors and high compression pistons. This brilliant and beautifully prepared small machine will not fail to attract attention, whether in the street or on the track, and provide for an unique opportunity for a crew of enthusiastic young riders to engage in historical events as was at the time the Band Doudou from Mauritius called the Caekebeke!
