Few cars are as visceral as a Porsche 911, and that's a quality that just about triples in a cabriolet. By the time this car was built, most of the tail happy behavior was finely honed out...but not all. You never forget you're in a rear-engined car, and you don't want to. Gorgeous cars like this Venitian Blue 911 here have a way to get into your soul, and you'll wonder how you lived without one. Outside, you're looking at one very stock Porsche. The paint is very nice with few marks, and the door panels are perfect in a way that can only indicate that the car's never been hit. A clean Autocheck report confirms what your eye can see, as well. A factory chin spoiler has been added for improved looks and high speed stability. The quarter panel blackouts are a nice period correct detail. The newer convertible top is excellent, with a clear back window. 1987 was the first year for flush headlamps in America, and these are very nice. The stance is even factory correct-this is nearly what this car looked like new! Eight way adjustable Linen leather seats invite you in. You'll absolutely love the Momo Prototipo steering wheel in front of you-it's as comfortable to hold as it is timeless. A newer Pioneer CD player and Polk Audio speakers replace the woefully bad original pieces. Lloyd's mats with Carrera stitching are practical and good looking. The seats are in excellent shape and look more like 5 years old than 25. Optional leather covered door handles and armrests are a nice upgrade that you'll appreciate every time you get in the car. Open the trunk and find the spare tire, the convertible top boot, and the original four spoke steering wheel-it's nice to have to pass on to the next owner...if you ever part with the car! Open the engine lid and find the strong 3.2 liter flat six, good for 217 horsepower. That doesn't sound like much, but this is a 2800 pound car, and it's plenty enough to zip by 95% of cars built today, let alone the dismal 1980's. There's a surprising amount of torque, lots of revs, and unadulterated mechanical music. 3.2-liter Carreras are known for weak valve guides, but thanks to a top end rebuild 20,000 miles ago, it's good for another 100K. Backing the motor is a G50 five speed, in its first year. This is a VASTLY improved gearbox with a hydraulically actuated clutch and a different synchro design, giving it a truly modern feel. Put the car on a lift and there's not much to see...and that's a good thing. The motor is dry, and the floor pans are straight. Newer Bilstein shocks and turbo tie rods improve road feel, working with Kumho tires on the factory 16x6 and 16x7 Fuchs wheels to deliver a driving experience like no other. If you're looking for a true sports car, few are as pure as a 911. If you're looking for a purchase that will hold its value AND provide years of enjoyment, this one belongs in your garage.
