About this Car:
This beautifully restored Lamborghini is one of only 125 examples of the original Islero produced from 1968 through early 1969, and bears stunning testament to the mid-range replacement for the 400GT 2 2 that was introduced at the 1968 Geneva Motor Show. Like all Isleros, the car wears unique bodywork from Marazzi, the small Milanese coachbuilding firm born out of Touring’s financial demise.
Following delivery of the Marazzi body to Lamborghini’s Sant’Agata factory on August 7, 1968, chassis no. 6243 was completed on September 3, and is believed to be one of just a small handful of Isleros finished in dark bronze paint with a mustard interior. Delivered to Swiss importer Garages Foitek of Zurich on October 2, the car was purchased by a gentleman named Mr. Bader.
By the 1980s, this Islero was owned by Gunther Kraxner of Kirchberg, Switzerland, although the car ceased to be registered after 1991, presumably following his passing. When acquired by Carlo Pina of Solothurn, Switzerland, Mr. Kraxner’s son reported that the engine had been rebuilt in 1985. Mr. Pina put the Lamborghini up for sale in 2000, at which point it was imported to the US by Beverly Hills, California, resident Randy Simon, and soon sold to Mike Finegan of Cincinnati, Ohio. Mr. Finegan finally treated the aging Islero to some much-needed attention, commissioning a rebuild of the brakes, fuel lines, leather seats,and radiator.
