1961 Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2 Coupé: Coachworks by Pinin Farina
Left hand Drive: EU supplied: Matching Numbers
Ferrari Classiche Certification Applied For
The launch of the Ferrari 250 GTE was the collaboration between Pinin Farina and Enzo Ferrari to produce the most desirable Gran Turisimo with comfort,
Space and large luggage capacity. Not a widely known fact that two-seat models “were not my father’s favorite to drive,” said Piero Ferrari. “He loved the 2+2 … this was his personal car; my father was normally driving himself, but he always had a driver with him, and a little dog. So for him, a two-seat car wasn’t enough.”
Our car # 2303GT was supplied new by Franco Brittanic Motors, Paris supplied to its first owner on the 28th of February 1961. The car was commissioned to be built in Grigio Metallico with VM3309 Beige Connolly Hide. Our car is fitted with a 250SWB type bonnet air scoop, feeding the triple Weber 40 DCL6 carburettors, a larger size than specified on later cars; it is still presented thus today.
Recent works include a brake overhaul & tune, including new spark plugs & HT leads, by GTO Engineering, re-built & re-polished Borrani wire wheels & a complete re-trim using original type hides. A unique opportunity to acquire an unmolested & rare matching numbers car that is now presented in superb condition throughout.
The 250 GTE is possibly the most undervalued of all the Ferrari 3 litre Columbo engined cars available today and will surely enjoy a large price premium on current market values in the near future.
A great opportunity to acquire a rare matching numbers car that has had such great care and detailed attention shown with its recent extensive restoration works.
