That Jaguar's XJS will become a 'bona fide' classic is beyond doubt. Launched in 1975, its twenty one year production life was a testimony to the excellence of its basic design. With all round independent, coil sprung suspension, power assisted rack and pinion steering and disc brakes, its excellent ride/handling balance was justly praised by the contemporary motoring press. The XJS's superlative 5.3 litre developed some 295bhp in later fuel injected form and when allied to automatic transmission gave authoritative 150mph performance.
The dramatic styling of the XJS did not go un-noticed by one of the foremost Jaguar dealerships of the time, Guy Salmon. To this end, they decided to offer the public a limited edition version that encompassed a number of up-grades. These included the adoption of the four round headlights and additional design element to the centre of the grill. These were built in low numbers, sanctioned by Jaguar Cars at the time and, as such, very collectable.
With just one former keeper recorded on the registration document and the original set of Jaguar handbooks, this unusual example is certainly collectable and in reasonable condition, the electric hood functions correctly and detailed within the paperwork are bills from David Manners and NJ Restorations, both respected Jaguar specialists. Also included is the original Jaguar owners pack complete with all associated documentation including the service schedule with 23 stamps from Guy Salmon themselves. A rare and attractive sporting tourer, offered here at no reserve.
