From its production in 1921, the Bentley name has remained synonymous with prestige, performance and luxury. The finest Bentleys of the post-war period were designated 'Continental'; a title which was re-introduced in 1984 in the form of the Bentley Continental Convertible, an example of which from 1991 is available today. This Bentley Continental is powered by a V8 engine incorporating an aluminium-silicon alloy block, aluminium cylinder heads and cast iron wet cylinder liners; the bore was 4.1" and the stroke 3.9" giving a total of 6.75 litres. Fuel was supplied via a Bosche MK-Motronic fuel injection system with drive provided via a four-speed automatic GM Hydromatic gearbox with a top speed quoted by Bentley as 131mph.
This striking Bentley Continental Convertible was produced by coachbuilders Mulliner Park Ward and originally registered on 1st August 1990. A comprehensive service history accompanies the car, confirming this to be a very well cared for example. The Indigo blue paintwork is complimented by a new set of white wall tyres; the interior trim is parchment with blue piping and matching blue carpets. Both doors have sliding security compartments, the car is also fitted with rear head restraints and extended seat runners for the taller driver. Having spent most of its life in a garage, it is no surprise that it presents in near perfect condition and is described as being a "delight" to drive. Supplied with a V5 registration document and a valid MoT test certificate, this timeless convertible Bentley is already regarded as a design classic.
