Mr Bertone was a great stylist who created this Jaguar XK150 S with a Coupe body designed by Franco Scaglione. Only three units were made. Alongside the special Bertone designed Aston Martin DB2/4 and the Maserati 3500 GT, the same year saw the unveiling of a Jaguar-based prototype, the XK 150. Close up the lateral ridges recall the styling of the Bertone designed Maserati 3500 GT and as in the case of the other experimental models, the Jaguar also stood out for its sporty personality and simple, tight styling. The slim tail and imposing front view which conceals a powerful Jaguar engine are joined by smooth full wings. With the ultimate 3.8 litre six cylinder unit producing 250 bhp this car was more than a match for its Italian rivals. Of the three produced only one is known to survive, the car you see here. Recently repatriated from an important Jaguar collection where it resided for many years this represents a unique opportunity to acquire an important and beautiful piece of Jaguar history. The car is in extremely good order throughout and is beautifully detailed with many unique styling features. This absolutely stunning and unique Jaguar will be a fantastic addition to any serious collection or as a fast Grand Tourer with real panache which will surely be invited to all the major prestigious events. Available for viewing in our Kew showroom.
