This car is a genuine and documented factory produced Sports Roadster with body code 76B. It is a rare bird, with only 1,427 produced for the 1962 model year. The original factory build sheet and sales invoice (she cost over $5,900 when new!) are included with the car, with the numbers on those original documents matching the ID plate and VIN tags on the car. Ford designed this car for the jet age, with its shape and multiple elements reflecting the post war modern era. The interior was designed to resemble the cockpit of an advanced jet fighter, incorporating command console ergonomics. The power driver’s seat works flawlessly. Notice the swing-away steering wheel, allowing easier entry/exit for the driver. Of particular note, the black power convertible top functions perfectly. Major components for the top were recently replaced, such as hydraulic pumps, motors and servos to ensure seamless operation. The power windows, both front and year, work effortlessly. Gauges, lights and accessories function as they should, including courtesy lights. Her rubber trim and weather stripping are in good order, as are any plastic trim pieces. She is also equipped from the factory with windshield washers and a side view mirror. Even the heater fan and her original pushbutton AM radio function. You will note a highly detailed and crisp looking engine and engine bay and that she’s fitted with a factory engine dress-up kit, which includes chrome plated valve covers, air cleaner and radiator tank. Fitted with a correct FE 390 cubic inch V-8 with 300 horsepower and 427 foot pounds of torque, when you need her to this T-Bird will soar down the road. The Cruise-O-Matic transmission propels the car smoothly up to speed. Performance has been further enhanced via a newer Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor (the carburetor that was on the car prior is included). She tracks nice and straight down the road, having had suspension work recently completed such as new shock absorbers, various bushings replaced to ensure responsive and smooth driving, as well as brake work. She’s a breeze to maneuver through turns thanks to the power steering, and the power brakes bring her to a halt just as Ford planned. She will start on the first turn of the key, idling smoothly and responding as needed to your driver inputs. A recent service, including spark plugs, fluid changes and timing adjustment add to her performance and reliability. She runs, drives and looks superb after her frame-up restoration, even winning an award at the 2010 Muckenthaler Concours d' Elegance. Her original color combination of Corinthian White (factory paint code M) over a red interior (factory trim code 55) is stunning. This is the year, model and color combination that many collectors prize, and the documentation that it’s an original Sports Roadster makes it even more desirable. Bright work and chrome sparkle, and her chrome wire wheels and Firestone whitewall tires round out the beautiful design.
