1930 Stutz Jones Special Indy Race Car

1930 Stutz Model M "Jones Special" Chassis # - M8-28-SY84B This Stutz Model M automobile drove right out of the showroom and onto the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in1930. The man behind this venture was a Cleveland, Ohio millionaire sportsman named Milton Jones. He bought the car and stripped it down to reduce weight for the race. He then hired drive L.L. Corum to be the pilot and Milton was the ride along mechanic. In a remarkable feat they came in tenth overall. The car was then put back together as a road car and sold. The next owner was Tommy Wolfe, who bought the car in 1938. He enjoyed the car up until 1972 when he sold it. There are two period photos of the car in 1938 and 1940 together as a production road car. Following Mr. Wolfe's ownership the car was then owned by a number of well know and prominent car collectors. Each of these collectors realized the significance of the car and its providence. In 2001 the car was restored back into its Indianapolis racing livery. All the original parts that were removed have been retained and accompany the car when sold.
