This premium option helped transform the world's most popular sports car into a true thoroughbred. As confirmed by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, this XK120 Roadster was manufactured on September 9, 1953, and was imported to the US through Max Hoffman's legendary Manhattan dealership, fitted with the Special Equipment package, which included a high performance 3.4-liter engine with 180 brake horsepower, upgraded suspension, chrome wire wheels, and a dual exhaust system. Over the next decades, the car was no doubt enjoyed, but it seems that it was driven sparingly today this wonderful XK120 is believed to have covered less than 40,000 miles from new. Originally registered in Wisconsin through 1962, the XK 120 served as a delightful driver for many years, until it was discovered and restored in 1992-1993. Initially finished in black paintwork, the car now displays a Jaguar Red finish, with a gorgeous biscuit leather interior by G.W. Bartlett, which is certified for adherence to the original Jaguar specifications. Soon after the completion of its restoration, the Roadster enjoyed a long and successful show career, capturing a number of prestigious trophies. In 1994, the car was awarded an AACA Grand National First Prize and was distinguished as the 1995 Jaguar Club of North America National XK120 Roadster Champion, having earned a score of 99.9 points. Another honor came when this Jaguar was awarded Best in Class at the 1994 Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance. As a testament to the impressive quality and authenticity of the restoration work, this car has won events at Bay Harbor, Hilton Head and the Glenmoor Gathering between 2003 and 2005. In recent years, the Jaguar has resided in climate controlled storage under our careful watch, meanwhile adding more accomplishments to its prestige by successfully completing the 2010 Copperstate 1000 and the New England 1000 in 2012. A December 2012 mechanical service and fresh cosmetic detailing assures the 120's ability to successfully show or tour as-is. The timeless design of the XK120 offers a great opportunity to acquire one of the company's finest efforts. Likewise, the high quality of its restoration and the Special Equipment package makes this Jaguar an important addition to any collection; ready to be enjoyed and displayed by its new owner.
