Land Cruisers, in all their variations, have proven themselves to be extremely durable and flexible in almost every environment imaginable, and they are still found hard at work today on all seven continents. A classic body-on-frame truck offered in several wheelbases with open and closed bodies, TLCs were powered over their production life by two different gasoline engines, and later on a Diesel that could thrive on the fuel available in Africa and Asia. This handsome Generation Two FJ40 two-door hardtop is built on a short-wheelbase chassis with a removable metal roof. It is powered by a normally aspirated Type F2 inline six of 4.2-liter displacement, which sends its considerable torque to the ground through a four-speed, fully synchronized transmission and a two- speed transfer case drive is sent to both axle differentials. The suspension has been upgraded for compliance and comfort with Dakar leaf springs, steering stabilizer, and nitrogen-charged shock absorbers sourced from Old Man Emu, Australias leading 4x4 parts manufacturer and developer. The steering is power-assisted, and the brakes are servo-assisted discs in front and drums in the rear. The wheels are steel, 15 in diameter and 7 wide, shod with Mud Trac 31x10.5x15 tires. Electrics are all 12 volt, and the interior appointments are spartan, as might be expected for a workhorse of this nature. The two-seater also includes side-facing accommodations for two in the rear, as well as a full-width factory-installed roll bar, which was all standard equipment.
