Early Mustangs have a lot of charm, and it'll be hard not to fall in love with this 1965 convertible after you have a look. Subtle and sophisticated in silver with a black interior and top, it neatly bridges the gap between performance car and grand tourer. You can't argue that silver doesn't work extremely well on the Mustang's classic shape. You don't need bright red to attract attention, as this car will draw a crowd everywhere it goes just by being an old Mustang, and once folks get up close, they'll be impressed by the quality. Straight steel with crisp details emphasize the Mustang's characteristic details, from the "gills" flanking the grille to the C-scoops on the rear quarters. Fit and finish are easily up to factory standards and the two-stage paint has a shine worthy of a car that will have everyone's eyes on it. It's refreshing to see that it hasn't even been turned into a GT clone or a Shelby tribute, and instead retains the original grille, chrome bumpers, and classic, elegant lines. Perhaps this car's most notable feature, it offers an incredibly rare front bench seat. Yes, buckets were standard, but the bench was available at extra cost, though obviously it wasn't a high-demand option. Today, however, it's much more than a curiosity and you'll have people scratching their heads and examining it closely everywhere you go. New seat covers, fresh carpets, and reproduction door panels make it look decades younger, and the gauges are crisply rendered. And again, it's nice to see that they stuck to the stock equipment, so there are no aftermarket gauges hanging under the dash, just a correct-looking A/C system. The only notable deviation from stock is the JVC AM/FM/CD stereo system in the center of the dash, but when you're out cruising with the top down, you'll be glad it's there. A newer black convertible top fits snugly and is power actuated, so it disappears in the time it takes to wait for a green light, and it includes a matching black boot. The trunk is fitted with a correct plaid mat, spare tire cover, and even a matching tool bag! The engine bay is dominated by the big A/C compressor, which is original equipment, but underneath you'll find an A-code 289 cubic inch V8. With a Holley 4-barrel, it probably makes a bit more than the stock 225 horsepower and runs superbly. A chrome dress-up kit adds some flash in the otherwise monochromatic engine bay, and with all the recent parts you don't have to worry about hitting the road. An aftermarket power brake booster adds some muscle to the original drum brakes, and power steering is always a nice addition for an easy cruiser like this. The engine is backed by a C4 3-speed automatic and 3.00 gears out back, so it's relaxed on the open road. Gorgeous styled steel wheels glitter against the silver paint and wear 215/60/14 Yokohama blackwall radials. At this price, you'd expect a nice Mustang. But add in the unusual bench seat, factory A/C, and an A-code V8, and you have something that will make you happy for years to come. Call today!
