The 3.8 litre is the most powerful and sought after version of Jaguars beautiful Mk 2 sports saloon. The 220 BHP XK-engine made the car one of the fastest saloons in its days.
This 3.8 was a Califonia car originally fitted with a Borg-Warner automatic transmission. It was restored during 2002-2005. Rust was minimal so only minor body work was neccesary. Engine was totally rebuilt. The cylinder head reworked to run on lead-free petrol and the old automatic gearbox was substituted with a rebuilt 4-speed Jaguar gearbox with electric overdrive (NOT the clunky Moss crash box). This Mk 2 also have power assisted steering which is a very nice option on tight manoeuvres of the otherwise quite heavy steering on a Mk 2.
A new upholstery in burgundy leather was fitted and the body received a professional respray in old english white completing the car in one of the most attractive color combinations for a Mk 2. A stainless steel exhaust system is also fitted. More than €30.000 was spent on this car and now it needs nothing.
The car has done 15.000 km since restoration and it drives absolutely superb. Power is quite impressive and the classic Mk 2 easily keeps up with modern day traffic. Everything on the car works and it's a real joy to drive. The price is more than fair for a 3.8 in such excellent condition why we cannot trade another car in on this deal. EU taxes (VAT) is paid (not deductible). We can arrange transport in Europe mainland at resonable cost all though this Mk 2 is more than capable of doing a high speed journey through Europe on its own wheels. This would in fact be a wonderful late summer classic motoring experience. Very sensibly prized for a 3.8 Mk II in this condition.
