Lancia Aurelia B20 GT 6e série
Italian registration Certificate ASI 2330 Engine n° B20-5373 - The most successful model - Left hand drive - Superb presentation - 2 owners from new The Aurelia, discreetly dressed as a saloon in 1950, turned into an elegant coupé the following year, and a spider, destined for the American market, in 1954. The heart of the Aurelia was an engine that became a classic. The architecture of the engine, which improved the performance of the straight six-cylinders, was exceptional at the time. The suspension was also innovative, particularly at the front, where the shock absorbers and coil springs were housed in a 'sliding pillar' that kept the wheels completely vertical. The clutch and gearbox were moved to the rear with the brakes and differential to improve the car's weight distribution. A left hand drive version appeared in the catalogue for the 3rd series, and from the 4th series, the B20 was fitted with a Dion rear axle. The Lancia B20 enjoyed enormous sporting success, with a host of victories to its name between 1951 and 1958 in many different races, including a class win at Le Mans and second in the Mille Miglia. The car in the sale was sold new in Milan, and was delivered in this special colour " Grigio chiaro ", with marine blue leather interior. Since 1973 it has been registered in Savona, on the north-east coast of Italy. It is equipped with its original engine, as confirmed by Mr Lamperti of the Italian Lancia club. The paintwork was recently re-done to a high standard, as was the chrome, the brakes and exhaust. The original Libretto was signed in 1987 by the engineer Francesco de Virgilio, who created the first V6 engine. This is a marvellous car, reliable, sporty, distinguished and eligible for all the major historic competitions, including the Monte-Carlo Rally, Tour Auto and Le Mans Classic.
