Studebaker Silver Hawk coupé
Italian title - An unorthodox American - Beautifully conserved example - Complete history The Studebaker marque had just merged with the prestigious manufacturer, Packard, when it decided to launch a range of Hawk coupés in 1956. The big guns were available and they called on the talents of the famous designer Raymond Loewy to work on the car. In 1957 it became the Silver Hawk - a majestic name for the last version of the Hawk that appeared for the new manufacturing year, replacing the Flight Hawk and the Power Hawk. Submitting to the stylistic fashion in America during the second half of the 1950s, the rear wings became more extravagant. At this period in the US, the style changed from year to year, and the 1956 design lost some purity in keeping up with the latest trends. This 1957 Studebaker Silver Hawk is presented in wonderfully original condition. It was delivered new to Rome, and has remained there ever since, even retaining its first registration! Just imagine this handsome American car circling the Piazza Navone amongst a horde of Fiat Topolinos. The mileage of 63,485 km is believed to be genuine, given the excellent condition of the car. It is perfectly presented in white with contrasting black vinyl interior that is evidently original. The interior exudes an incredible sense of the past, accentuated by the equipment on board. Only the radio-cassette appears to be more recent, and that is from the start of the 1970s, mind you.. The blue-tinted windows add a notable extra element of charm. An abundance of chrome, without being excessive, highlights the appealing shapes of the atypical coupé. The V8-engined Hawk models, of which this is one, are valued more highly than the V6 examples. Its 4.7-litre 210 bhp engine provides a strong performance. This car has enjoyed the splendors of Rome for more than half a century. Will you carry her away to foreign lands, to best experience her indisputable attractions?
