Delage D6-11 N coach
French title Engine n° 1052 - One of the most prestigious French marques - Interesting model - Previously restored to very high standard - no reserve "Delage, la belle voiture française": this slogan only partly sums up the character of the Delage marque. The other aspect of the car is its sportiness, promoted in adverts that claimed, for example, " Only the performance proves the quality ". These two sides are evident throughout the history of Delage, underpinned with a quest for quality. At the start of the 1930s, alongside the flagship model, the sumptuous D8, Delage offered several six-cylinder models of 2.5-litres and 3-litres. Then in 1932, the manufacturer from Courbevoie unveiled a smaller-engined car of 2000cc. The D6-11 was a response to the style of the 11 CV, but was superior to its competitors in several ways. To start with, its almost square overhead valve engine produced 60 bhp, which matched the Delage DS 2.5-litre. It was fitted with a four-speed gearbox, and was the first Delage tourer with front-wheel independent suspension. As well as performing admirably on the road, the D6-11 was also at home in concours d'élégance, where its high radiator grille and elegant body worked wonders. It also featured the high build quality that had made Delage successful. This unassuming Delage D6-11 has been part of the Pierre Brignole collection since June 1984. Carefully restored some years ago, it has a beautiful radiator grille with thermostatic vents, and is liveried in dark red with black roof and wings. Finished luxuriously, the interior is upholstered in beige fabric, and displays a dashboard with a complete set of instruments. This discreet and elegant car, a worthy representative of one of the most prestigious French marques, offers the charm of a pre-war car with a performance that is better than most touring cars of this period.
