Facel II coupé
British title Engine n° TY8-212 - Beautiful, powerful, luxurious and rare - One of the last high-end French cars - Rare right-hand drive example It is considered to be the best looking of all Facel models. Its low, slender waistline and radiator grille in three parts conveys a sense of power, whilst the light and airy roof expresses the comfort and luxury : these terms sum up the personality of the Facel II. The stars got it right: Jean Marais, Tony Curtis, Ava Gardner and Ringo Starr all owned a Facel, and drivers such as Maurice Trintignant and Stirling Moss were also won over by power of this superb machine. Delivered new on 26 March 1962 to Intercontinental Cars in Great Britain, the car on offer is a rare right-hand drive model. It was liveried in iridescent blue with black dashboard and blue interior, blue carpet and orange indicators at front and back. It also had an automatic gearbox, power steering, a radio and Borrani wire wheels. According to information supplied by the very dynamic Amicale Facel, this car was sold in March 1962 to Mr Wilkins, before passing into the hands of Mr Marriot in February 1963, and to Mr Cowley in 1966. The car had two further British owners, and during the 1980s/90s it was re-sprayed black and given a new beige interior. In 1997, it was sold by a garage in England and went to Malaysia, before returning to Europe in 2010, when it was imported into Germany. This is an extremely rare right-hand drive example. Of 183 Facel II examples produced, just 27 of these were right-hand drive. This car is fitted with the renowned V8 Chrysler TY8 Typhoon engine, with 6.3-litres producing 325 bhp and capable of 240 km/h. This is the original engine, which is not turning, and the car requires restoration before taking to the road. Here is a rare opportunity to buy an iconic model of the most prestigious postwar French marque.
