The famed distributor-dealer Hornburg, who was responsible for bringing Jaguar to the US market, imported and sold the car new to a Mr. A. K. Harris. Knowledge of the car's history skips to 1973 with Mr. Garland Gray of Waverly, VA, who purchased the car as a young man in Arizona and brought it to Virginia. He owned the Coupe for 14 years until he decided to let it go due to a growing family and lack of use. The most recent and long-term owner then purchased the 120 in 1987 after seeing it advertised in a Hemmings magazine. The Jaguar was driven regularly for the following 5 years until it became obvious the motor needed an overhaul. Soon after, the car was dismantled and the motor and transmission were taken to White Post Restorations for an overhaul, McAdam Motors took care of the paint and bodywork with final assembly of the fresh body, engine, auxiliaries and interior materials took place in the owner's garage. Always garaged and driven judiciously in good weather, the 120 has attended and won several local shows and Jaguar-British meets since 1993. There have been small repairs and enhancements in recent years, the largest being a cylinder head rebuild by Coventry West in 2008 (due to a tappet guide backing out). The car runs and drives exceptionally well in all road conditions. Fresh services include all new fluids and filters throughout among others. Tasteful enhancements include a front brake disk conversion in 1993. The calipers were resleeved by Stainless Steel Brakes then and seals replaced in June of 2012, along with a new master cylinder; DOT5 synthetic brake fluid has been used for the past 10 years. The original brake components are included should the new owner wish to revert to original. As well as an aluminum radiator (original brass unit in good condition included), XWX Michelin Radials, Pertronix distributor, single 12v agm Brain battery (retains positive ground), voltage regulator (converted to solid state by Wilton Auto Electronics June 2012), Generator (serviced by The Buko Company June 2012), solid state clock controller by Mike Eck at Jaguarclock, Davis-Craig in-line water booster pump for hot days (rarely needed) with many original parts included. This XK120 OTS presents very well as a beautiful and very functional driver today. Well maintained, the cosmetics show typical flaws and expected wear from use. Rear wing spats, and Lucas driving lamps compliment the unique styling cues of this Jaguar and strongly convey the essence of a classic British roadster.
