Vehicle Description Statement 1965 Cobra replica VIN AZ290981 I purchased the 1965 Cobra kit in 2000 expecting to keep Scottsdale as my primary residence. Plans changed and I wound up spending the majority of my time in California. My starting point was a collection of parts. This was my first car project so I depended entirely on professional mechanics, painters, restorers, etc. Having sold a business recently and being in a position to indulge myself in a project for its own sake, I began the journey that resulted in the Cobra. I soon discovered that the recommended assembly would not have the performance or quality that I sought. I hired the best craftsmen I could find and together we built the Cobra that I wanted. At this point I have spent over $203,000. The car has: •A custom leather interior by VIP European Auto Interiors at cost of more than $6,000.00 •A custom built 428 ported engine with a high performance cam and two four barrel Holly carburetors. Duffee Motor Sports did the engine work at cost of more than $13,000.00. •Custom exhaust (out the back) done by Travis Haynie at Classic Customs at a cost of more than $4,000.00. •Custom steering and front suspension done by Industrial Chassis at a cost of more than $7,000.00. The independent rear suspension is from Jaguar. •The electrical wiring was built using largely FFA approved wiring by a former Ferrari mechanic who is now piloting and maintaining private jets. •Pete Tann of Vintage Mobile Restoration did the majority of the assembly, bodywork, painting and parts procurement. Having restored several original Cobras he was able to guide the project to create a result that is close to an original in appearance.
