Outward appearances on the '72 Chevrolet Trucks were the same as the previous year minus the Black finished grille surround. Again, the Custom Deluxe, and the Cheyenne options were available which came with black pinta coated fabric, antique medium tan pinta coated fabric or antique light cover coated fabric. C10 or K10 models could be equipped with either a 115 in or 127 in wheelbase with a 6 1/2 ft. or 8 ft. cargo box available in Fleetside or Stepside models. The Chevrolet Suburban was based on the 127 in wheelbase with 2 doors on the passenger side and 1 on the driver's side and either had a tailgate or double rear doors. 1972 Chevrolet Pickup Production Numbers 1/2 Ton - Model C - Series 10 - 115 in wheelbase If you look at rarity strictly from a numbers point of view, of the 365,778 Chevy C-10 trucks built in 1972, only 3 percent left the assembly line as longbed Stepsides versus the roughly 10 percent that left as Cheyenne Supers. In total, Fleetsides outnumbered Stepsides two to one, and while there aren't any hard figures about how many of the Cheyenne Supers were long or shortbeds, one thing's for sure: they have remained desirable and valuable for the last 35 years.
