For sale here we have a very attractive Mercedes 280 SL, finished in Beige with soft brown leather, brown hood and matching brown hard top.
On the outside the car is finished in a lovely shade of period beige, with two tone hubcaps to compliment the brown hardtop and matching sill covers. All the brightwork is in pretty good condition, the door seals and window rubbers have been renewed and the car presents very well. The brown mohair hood was fitted a couple of years ago and has seen little weather since with no fading evident. The matching brown hard top is also in good condition, but I firmly believe the car looks better with it removed and the convertible top either raised or lowered!
On the inside the the car has been completely retrimmed with new soft brown leather throughout, to a very high standard. The carpets have also been renewed with correct German square weave carpet in a complimenatry biscuit shade, and edged in the same brown leather as the seats. The cabin is a great place to be, the retro dashboard is intact and in good condition, all the controls work as they should and the dash top has also been recovered in matchig leather.
Driving the SL is a pleasure. It pulls nice and smoothly with enough power from the 280 engine and the 4 speed auto gearbox is smooth and trouble free. Power steering and power brakes make it a very refined drive and surprisingly modern, while the typically floaty Mercedes suspension offers a very nice relaxing ride with no untoward noises heard over the bumps.
In conclusion this is an attractive SL, that is not concours (or it would be a lot more money!) but good enough to turn heads everywhere and ensure attention wherever its parked. It drives well and being the more desirable 280, it is the one to have!
The Mercedes is available to view night or day, seven days a week, in a dry well lit garage and viewing is strongly recommended!
